  •  Brockham Choral Society are holding a YOUNG COMPOSERS COMPETITION - £1,000 PRIZE FOR BEST ENTRY
    Further prize of £500 for best under 18 if not overall winner.  CLOSING DATE 27th NOVEMBER 2020.  BROCKHAM CHORAL a mixed voice choir based in Dorking is offering prizes for a work to be sung in its concert in November 2021.  Open to young composers aged 11 to 25 who live or study in Surrey.  The work should be between 3 and 6 minutes long.  For further information visit  www.brockhamchoral.org/compositioncompetition
  • Age Concern, Mole Valley Will Writing Service: If you are over 50 and live in the Mole Valley area, you can use Age Concern Mole Valley’s Will Writing Service.  Once a month local solicitors, Meaby & Co (formerly Hart Scales & Hodges)  are taking appointments for Will Writing  at the Age Concern Mole Valley offices in Dorking.  A donation of £100 can be given to Age Concern Mole Valley for the service.  A solicitor would normally charge over £250 plus VAT per Will).  To book an appointment for the Will Writing Clinic, please call 01306 899104/ 07442 017169 or by email: info@ageconcernmolevalley.org.uk   Registered Charity No 1111678
  • Oxfam, Dorking are seeking new volunteers: I am contacting you because currently the Oxfam Dorking shop is looking for more volunteers to join the movement fighting poverty by promoting sustainability and community.  From window dressing, serving customers, organising pop up shop events, sorting donations, managing our social media to managing our online shops - we need people for all kinds of roles, not all shop based.  And new volunteers join a friendly team at the heart of your community.  For more info/contact: Lee Withall: Oxfamshopf4208@oxfam.org.uk  01306 883842.
  • Supporting people facing life-threatening illness: Volunteer with the Brigitte Trust  -  When cancer, or any life-threatening illness, is diagnosed it can be really hard to share the emotional burden – especially to family.  A Brigitte Trust volunteer visits weekly,  building a relationship and the chance to share time together as well as offering practical help like transport, shopping or the chance to get out of the house for a break – for the person who is ill as well as for their carer.  Having time together on a regular basis with someone outside the family circle can make a real difference and lighten the load.   Please call Ingrid on 01306 881816 and visit www.brigittetrust.org/volunteering.
