Well done to everyone who took part in 'Go Greener for Lent'!

Mission

Green Church is a small group with a big agenda fundamentally concerned with Loving God’s World. We want to look after his creation and share it with others, believing that the concept of ‘greenness’ should be a fundamental part of the church’s philosophy.

We have participated in the Dorking community Great Litter Pick, hosted ‘Big Garden Clear Up’ days as a church family, created our own freecycling initiative, and have earned A Rocha UK’s Eco Church ‘Silver’ award. We are currently putting in a whole-church effort to attain Gold!

Creation Care

The Creation Care scheme is a national initiative set up by former congregation member Annabelle South. It aims to encourage households to make changes for God’s earth, focussing on seven key areas; worship and prayer, home, garden, travel, food, possessions, and community and global engagement.

You can enter the scheme by completing a questionnaire covering each of these areas, and if you’re committed, can receive a certificate with a bronze, silver or gold award.

Future Plans

We hope to have a Green Church Sunday with a special emphasis on what we can do to look after God’s World and to make our church a greener place. This includes encouraging our small groups and young people to incorporate ‘greenness’ into the fabric of their ministries.

We are continuing the garden improvement to make the front garden more beautiful for the local community to enjoy.

Are you in?

We need more people who are enthusiastic about trying to right the wrongdoings of the past, promote a greener approach to church activities, and to Love God’s World.
